Tristan Thomas

When you think of describing Tristan Thomas, you might be surprised! Tristan is a New Mexico native, born in Taos, New Mexico and raised in Zuni, New Mexico (out near Gallup). In 1987, when Tristan was of high school age, his family moved to Albuquerque, so he could attend Manzano High School. At Manzano, he participated in football and track & field, and after graduation he coached both football and track and field at various local high schools, including his alma mater.

After high school, Tristan traveled a bit and then attended the University of New Mexico where he received his B.S. in Psychology. Tristan’s first “real job” was as a special education teacher at a local alternative school, Sierra Alternative School. After a short stint teaching, Tristan took a big leap, in 1999, and jumped into his present position with Klein Enterprises as their sales and project manager for their raised access floor system and modular wiring product line.

Tristan joined IFMA two years ago and immediately got involved. He was first elected to be the chapter’s Programs Chair and, last year, was elected the chapter’s vice President (while retaining his responsibilities as Programs Chair).

Tristan has preformed a magnificiant job as our Programs Chair. He has brought our Chapter many new and creative programs and has arranged great places to have our luncheons and Christmas Parties. He’s created an IFMA Schedule of Events, which spans into 2004 and includes diverse and interesting presentation topics for all our membership to benefit from.

Tristan has quickly become very active in the construction industry, having been a member of the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) for the past 3 years and having held the position of CSI Arrangements Chair for the last year. In addition to his duties with Klein Enterprises, CSI, and IFMA, Tristan is also active in his church and enjoys researching Christian Theology and Biblical Hermaneutics. He also finds time to play golf, likes to read whatever he can get a hold of, and likes to take trips with his family.

Tristan’s current and most time-consuming activity has been his family’s endeavor to build their “dream home”. After three months of construction, he says, “It’s not quite complete, but with a couple more weeks and some touch-up paint left to do, we can see daylight ahead.”

Tristan and his wife Amy, have two rambunctious sons (ages 5 and 2) and a house full of pets, ready to move into their new home. Tristan’s coaching career is not yet over, as he is looking forward to coaching his son’s in the years to come.

When asked what he likes best about his job he replied? I enjoy meeting new people, getting the opportunity to teach architects, contractors, and facility managers about his innovative products, and seeing projects develop from design to completion.

On behalf of IFMA New Mexico Chapter members, we appreciate the time and effort that Tristan gives to our organization. Our Chapter is fortunate to have a man of Tristan’s energy, professionalism and dependability.
